On Veterans Day 2021, Fulcrum Partners is saluting veterans, including our own Steve Broadbent and Bruce Brownell.

Originally established as Armistice Day, the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month was set aside in 1918 to symbolically commemorate the end of World War I. In 1954, the day was renamed Veterans Day, and established by the 83rd U.S. Congress as a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

At Fulcrum Partners, a OneDigital Company, we proudly thank all the service men and women who served in America’s military in wartime or peacetime. And we salute our own veterans, Steve Broadbent and Bruce Brownell.

Steve Broadbent

Steve, a Senior Vice President Retirement at Fulcrum Partners, is a U.S. Navy retired Commander, with 22 years of combined active and reserve service. While on active duty, Steve served at sea on destroyers and on an Admiral’s staff. His reserve assignments included logistics duties in Washington DC and Pearl Harbor, with assignments to the White House Military Office in support of President George H. W. Bush’s overseas travel.

Steve is a two-time recipient of the Navy’s Meritorious Service Medal, a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award from the Secretary of the Treasury and a recipient of the Commissioner’s Award, the highest honor presented by the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service.

“Whenever I have the opportunity to mentor a young man or woman,” said Steve, “I always encourage them to consider military service as it offers early career leadership opportunities that can’t be found in the private sector. My years on active duty are among the best years in my career.”

While on active duty, Bruce, a Senior Vice President Retirement at Fulcrum Partners, was a Surface Warfare Officer. He had five Indian Ocean deployments on the USS White Plains (AFS-4) while homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. He served as an Auxiliaries Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant, and Navigator.

When stationed back in the U.S., he was based in Boston as an Officer Programs Recruiter. During that time, he was the #1 Recruiter in New England (1985) and the #1 Recruiter Nationally (1986). Bruce served in the U.S. Navy for 11 years of active and reserve duty and retired from service as a Lieutenant Commander.

“The experience and education I gained during my years of service in the Navy brought insights and skills I would likely have never gained outside of military service,” said Bruce. “Serving in the U.S. military was a privilege.”

To Steve, Bruce, and all U.S. Veterans, we say, “Thank you for your service!”
